Academics
Saint Raphael School was re-accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in December of 2010.
The Academic Purpose of Saint Raphael School is to provide a thorough education for all students by providing a solid foundation of the basic skills and core knowledge in each subject necessary for student success. Our school follows the New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards as well as the Trenton Diocesan Curricula. Through dialogue with administrators, teachers and parents, the curriculum is reevaluated and revised based on the individual needs of our children in a constantly changing society.
Our pastor is the chief administrator and delegates authority to the principal. In the Diocese of Trenton, Saint Raphael School follows the guidelines of the Dioceses Office of Catholic Education.
In an atmosphere of Christian community, we, as professional educators, are committed to enhancing each child’s individual worth. Our staff creates a safe, supportive, and loving environment in order to facilitate learning. The teaching process is organized as self-contained departments, enrichment subject classes, and a state provided compensatory education program that is available for those who qualify.
Evaluations are both formal and informal for students and faculty. Standardized tests, classroom observations, and student participation in varied styles of learning assist teachers in ascertaining strengths and weaknesses. Evaluation of staff members is conducted by the principal and focuses on teaching methods, professional growth, and a measure of how the teacher provides for the student’s individual needs.
