A Special Welcome from
Your PTA President
Dear St. Raphael Families,
Welcome back! I hope your families had a wonderful summer and that you’re as excited as we are for another great year at St. Raphael School. For those of you I haven’t had the chance to meet yet, my name is Kristin Santizo. My son Roman is in 5th grade, and my son Angelo graduated in 2024. I am honored to serve as this year’s PTA President—especially during our school’s 75th Anniversary year!
I’d like to take a moment to share some important information about fundraising and volunteering, which play a vital role in keeping our school thriving.
Fundraising Obligations
As outlined in the admissions documents, each family is responsible for raising at least $250 through fundraising (unless you choose the buyout option). The RaiseRight requirement is also $250.
Upcoming & Current Fundraisers include:
- Football Frenzy – mandatory fundraiser and covers 60% of your obligation - please check your child's backpack for this!
- Thanksgiving Pie Sale – November
- Book Fair
- Easter Candy Sale – March
- And more!
(Football Frenzy fulfills 60%, while Book Fair, Thanksgiving Pie Sale, and Easter Candy Sale each fulfill 30%.)
Volunteer Hours
Each family is required to complete 40 volunteer hours per school year. The good news - it doesn’t have to just be parents! Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other family members can help too.
Ways to volunteer include:
- AM drop-off or lunch duty (VIRTUS training required) – a SignUpGenius link has already gone out.
- Bingo nights (5 hours each, no VIRTUS required) – a SignUpGenius link has also gone out.
- Special events such as Wrestling Night (Oct. 25), Designer Bag Bingo, Secret Santa Shop, Breakfast with Santa, Baby Jesus Birthday Celebration, Christmas Bingo Night, Tricky Tray, and many more in the spring – a SignUpGenius link is coming soon.
If you would like to serve as a chairperson for an event, you will fulfill 20 hours. At the end of the year, any unfulfilled hours will be charged at $20 per hour.
New This Year: Referral Hours
Families who refer another family that enrolls at SRS will receive 10 volunteer hours.
Business Contributions
Many families in our community own businesses, and sponsorships are another wonderful way to support our school. For example, a local realtor donated ice cream for our Ice Cream Social, and her contribution was acknowledged publicly in the Parish Center.
If you are interested in sponsoring or donating food/supplies for an event (which also counts toward volunteer hours), please contact me at [email protected] or speak with Mrs. Petrino in the main office.
Staying Involved
This year, we will be keeping careful track of fundraising and volunteer hours. You will receive updates from Carrie Smith regarding your family’s contributions. I will also be in touch soon with a SignUpGenius link for chairpersons and volunteers for this year’s events. We will be in touch with room parents, as well.
Thank you in advance for the time, energy, and love you give to make St. Raphael School such a special place. I know this 75th Anniversary year will be filled with wonderful memories for our children and our community.
With gratitude,
Kristin Santizo
